In the mid 1990's Normiska's founders became aware of a potential bark supply near their Fort Frances bog. The paper mill in Fort Frances wanted to divert its jack pine bark waste stream from its landfill to horticultural markets if possible. Normiska determined that products needed to be developed for both the value-added pine bark compost markets and larger volume pine bark mulch markets.
The key to our bark business is that we have a long-term contract for supply of a consistent species and grade of pine bark. While described in more detail under BARK MULCH or COMPOSTED BARK, our full range of bark products are produced at our Fort Frances Site. This site has the full environmental permitting to allow for bark to be received from the Fort Frances Abitibi-Consolidated mill or from any other bark generator in the province.
We believe we have built the most versatile bark screening plant on the continent in that we can custom produce any size product a customer may want with little or no extra cost or changeover time. |
