   Sphagnum Peat Moss Sphagnum Peat Moss is one of Nature's renewable, sustainable resources. Much like a tree harvest, with proper planning and good operating practices, sphagnum peat moss is one of the best natural soil amendment products in the world which can be harvested on a continual basis year over year. The harvest area of the bog is carefully drained through a grid of engineered drainage ditches which ensures that there are no suspended particles in the water and the water table is lowered only to the level necessary to allow access to the area under harvest. The fields are carefully designed to ensure that the optimum harvest is achieved at the minimal environmental impact. Large areas around the bog are retained in their natural state to provide a source of material for replanting the bog when harvesting is completed. Once replanted the bog will regenerate in 10 to 40 years and be available for further harvesting.
