Normiska Corporation Company Announcement TORONTO, ONTARIO--Normiska Corporation is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Clare Brunetta B.A., LL.B., to the board of directors of the company. Mr. Brunetta brings to the board 18 years of legal expertise and a strong local representation for the company in Fort Frances, Ontario, where Normiska's production centre is located.

Normiska is also pleased to announce that Normiska Corporation has signed a letter of intent with Weyerhaeuser Canada Inc. to process 160,000 cubic yards of bark by-product at Ear Falls, Ontario. Details of the agreement will be announced upon completion of negotiations.

Normiska Corporation reports that plant operations and spring deliveries of bulk and bagged horticultural grade bark products has begun. Field crews at the Normiska Peat Bog have completed commissioning the equipment for the 1999 peat harvesting season and are prepared to commence field operations on May 3,1999. We look forward to a good harvest.

Normiska Corporation's operations are located in Northwestern Ontario and the twin border towns of Fort Frances, Ontario and International Falls, Minnesota. The company produces professional grade sphagnum peat moss, pine bark mulches and composted pine bark. The products will be distributed primarily in the United States under the trade name of Normiska Materials and will be used by professional plant growers, turf and lawn care specialists and gardeners as soil-less growing mediums.

Normiska has 5,086,340 common shares issued and outstanding. The company has also issued 600,000 share purchase warrants exercisable at $1.25 until January 17, 1999.
